Welcome to Bernie's Two Minute Friday where we will invite you to take a couple of minutes out from your busy schedule to read about what is happening in the world - all with a St Bernard’s Old Collegians focus.
On Thursday, 10 August, at our Resurrection House Campus, we we're lucky enough to host Old Collegians James Oxley (SBOC 2020) James Polkinghorne (SBOC 2006) & Ben Wilson (SBOC 2011) who spoke to the Year 9s about their career journeys and how they got the most out of their time at St Bernard's.
James Oxley was able to provide a fantastic perspective on his journey in
commerce, speaking to how he made the choice to study with Uni of Melbourne and the mentors that have helped him along the way.
James Polkinghorne's career journey has been primarily AFL focused, picked up by the Brisbane Lions in the 2007 draft at pick 41, he went on to play over 100 games of AFL, James currently works for Essendon F.C, as part of their Education Academy as a program manager.
Ben Wilson detailed his journey from the College into what initially was a focus on physiotherapy, however as he studied, he realised his true calling was teaching, which ultimately has led him back to St Bernard's!
The St Bernard's Old Collegian Association, and the SBC Foundation, have both been working hard to put the finishing touches on 3 upcoming events for our Community.
Bookings for the below events will be available shortly, if you would like to express early interest in attending any of the below events, please email cnicholl@sbc.vic.edu.au to be added to the shortlist
This annual event is a community favourite, jam packed with a plethora of guest speakers, raffles, and auctions with an underlying footy theme, hosted at the Moonee Ponds Club.

With so many of our Old Collegians professionally involved in the racing industry, and many more who enjoy racing in general, we think its time for a racing themed event, hosted at the Moonee Ponds Club, another fantastic opportunity to connect with other Old Collegians.
