Welcome to Bernie's Two Minute Friday where we will invite you to take a couple of minutes out from your busy schedule to read about what is happening in the world - all with a St Bernard’s Old Collegians focus.
We wanted to provoke some reminiscing of years gone by, so we're going to dig into the St Bernard's College Archives and fish out some memories! We'd love it if you have photos from your time at St Bernard's and would be willing to send them in to share with us!
By request - The year was 1961, Australia signed the Antarctic Treaty, Richmond become the only team since 1922 to fail to score a goal in a VFL/AFL match, Parkes Radio-telescope officially opened by the Governor General, Australia defeats England 2-1 and retains The Ashes, Rod Laver wins the Men's Singles at Wimbledon!
The 1961 Matriculation Gold Class!

From the Community this week is a little different, as we feature Charles Barrett (Year 9) who competed independently in the Victorian State Athletics Championships over the past two weekends
Charles competed in a total of 4 events, his most successful events were the Under 16's 2000m steeplechase and the U16 3000m, where he was crowned Victorian State Champion in both!
Charles also competed in the 1500m and placed second by the very smallest of margins, 0.01 second behind first place, and placed third in the 800m where 1.5 seconds separated the podium winners.
He has represented himself, his family and St Bernard's brilliantly, A massive congratulations to Charles on this amazing accomplishment
You can view his 2000m steeplechase below
On Thursday, 24 February, The St Bernard's Athletics team descended upon Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park to represent the College and compete to bring home the ACC Division 2 Championship
