Welcome to Bernie's Two Minute Friday where we will invite you to take a couple of minutes out from your busy schedule to read about what is happening in the world - all with a St Bernard’s Old Collegians focus.
We wanted to provoke some reminiscing of years gone by, so we're going to dig into the St Bernard's College Archives and fish out some memories! We'd love it if you have photos from your time at St Bernard's and would be willing to send them in to share with us!
The year was 2004, Jetstar commences operations with a maiden flight from Newcastle to Launceston via Melbourne, Jennifer Hawkins wins the Miss Universe contest! Australian captain Steve Waugh retires from Test cricket, playing his last match against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia brings home 49 medals, including a record 17 gold medals, from the 2004 Summer Olympics.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Noel O'Brien - SBC Hall of Fame Member, inducted in 2009
Noel was educated at St Bernard's, graduating in 1946, having earlier attended St Monica's Primary School, Moonee Ponds
Upon graduating, Noel worked tirelessly to build a remarkable business, his generosity and support of the College, and many causes within Australia and overseas improved the lives of countless people.
Noel is remembered as a great contributor and champion of causes, particularly in service to those at the margins of society.
The entire St Bernard's Community send their deepest condolences to the O'Brien family, many of whom followed in Noel's footsteps as students at the College
Please keep the O'Brien family in your thoughts and prayers
May he Rest In Peace

In what is a highlight in most our young lives, the College celebrated the Class of 2022 today as they spent their final day at the College as Year 12 Students.
In our first year in a few years uninterrupted by COVID, they were tasked with breathing life back into the College and getting us back to 'normal', of which they all contributed as a group and led the way by example
We wish them the best of luck with there upcoming exams
We wish you all the best moving forward - You will ALWAYS be Bernard's boys
The St Bernard’s Old Collegian Association was thrilled to be able to host the annual Grand Final Luncheon after a 2-year hiatus due to COVID.
On Friday, 23 September we descended upon the Moonee Ponds Club for a tantalising afternoon of great food, catching up with old mates, auctions, raffles, and a plethora of talented guest speakers who entertained magnificently!
A big thank you to the Moonee Ponds Club for hosting us on the day.
We are looking forward to the event again in 2023!
We've added an update personal details page to our website to make it easy for Old Collegians to provide updated contact details to the College. Ensuring your contact details are up to date with the College is essential to continue to receive our publications and invitations to Old Collegian events, such as the Reunions.
We are always on the look out to highlight the achievements & successes our Old Collegians have attained. If you have a story to share, or any feedback to provide regarding what type of content you like seeing in Bernie's 2 Minute Fridays please let us know!
