Every individual has leadership potential, we integrate learning about leadership into a broad range of curriculum and co-curricular programmes, encouraging our students to develop their minds and learn from their actions.
At St Bernard’s College we place a strong emphasis on action through learning. This results in the development of leadership skills and integrity, with a focus on how actions can help others. In equipping students with the skills required to live with purpose in a rapidly changing world, we prepare them to think and respond in a constructive and ethical way to the issues that affect people in our community, our country and our world.
We have six primary Captains, including the College Captain (Lucas McKinnon), Academic Captain (Samual Scodella), Ministry Captain (Sebastian Khoury), Arts Captain (Cooper Marin) Sports Captain (Thomas Beechman) and Wellbeing Capitan (Dallas Watson)
We have a Student Council made up Year 11 and 12 students who have shown a strong dedication to leadership throughout their journey at the College.
We have two Class Captains for each Homeroom from Years 7-10, who act as leaders for their classmates
Student Leadership at Resurrection House is comprised of team of student leaders who serve as Class Captain and Portfolio Captains. The Class Captain is responsible for representing their class and coordinating activities. The Portfolio Captains oversee specific areas of focus within the school community, which include:
Together, these leaders work to promote a positive and inclusive environment, encourage academic excellence, foster a sense of community through sports and arts, and support the overall wellbeing of students.
They play a key role in organising events, leading initiatives, and being role models for their peers. The Year 9 student leadership team meet regularly with the Dean of Campus and Year Level Leaders to collaborate and ensure student voice is heard and actioned. Leaders at Resurrection House model servant leadership qualities that promote an inclusive community inside and outside of the St Bernard’s College community.
Leadership development is formally integrated into the curriculum and co-curricular activities at all levels in order that our students develop ethical hearts, engaged minds and meaningful relationships that contribute to the community.
At St Bernard’s College, we value the significance of leadership as an action not a role and the importance of teamwork within a strong ethical and moral dimension.
We encourage our students to meaningfully connect with local and international communities through volunteering and philanthropic opportunities.
