Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Super Sevens all offer the opportunity to work in an orchestral setting. The instruments of this ensemble usually include: Brass – Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium and French Horn; Woodwind – Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon and Saxophone; Bass Guitar, Percussion and Piano.
Symphonic band is usually offered to students from Years 9 to 12, whereas Concert Band is usually offered for students in Years 7 and 8. Although the opportunity to join Symphonic band in Years 7 or 8 is possible, acceptance into the ensemble is usually dependent on their experience and level of musical reading.
Super Sevens follows the same orchestral program as the Symphonic Band and Concert Band. Super Seven’s is an exclusive ensemble set-up for Year 7 students undergoing curricular music in Year 7. The ensemble usually takes place in Terms 2 and 4 after students have developed their preliminary musical skills learned in Terms 1 and 2. The progression after Super Sevens is Concert Band.
