The Society of St. Vincent De Paul
Ref : Clairvaux 1980
In 1979, four year eleven students responded to Mr. Sequeira’s invitation to establish a conference at the College and under his guidance, become actively involved in works of charity.
This year the membership of the conference has increased to 14 persons. The founder members of the conference, now in year twelve, are still actively engaged in the Society’s work, and the new members – all from year eleven – have also quickly grasped the significance of the Society in their own lives and in the lives of the people they seek to serve.
All Members have attempted to aid the destitute men who seek shelter, food and companionship at Ozanam House. The conference has also visited the sick and the aged at the Greenvale Geriatric Centre and at the Mount Royal Geriatric Centre.
The conference meets once a week to discuss and plan programmes effectively for their activities and to reflect, discuss the experiences met. These meetings and activities have, in my opinion, helped to broaden the vision of our members.
In helping others, we have allowed certain feelings and spiritual thoughts, deep within us, to come alive. In closing, I would like to thank Mr. Sequeira for his persevering guidance, and all the members for the enthusiasm and loyalty shown by their work. May this work be blessed and our numbers grow.
