St Bernard’s Junior Team Competed Strongly at the ACC Junior Chess Tournament
On Wednesday 5 October, Ten Year 7 and 8 students attended the ACC Junior tournament and played in Division 1.
The team performed well with all team members scoring very closely to each other, between 3.5 and 2 points, which means the team remains in Division 1 for next year.
Overall our team placed 4th out of 7 teams.
We congratulate the team for their great effort: James Nguyen, Nathan Nguyen, Jacob Beltramo, Cameron Moodie, James D’Agrosa, Rafael Gonzalez, Paul De Losa, Jacob Menniti, Daniel Ngo and Nigel Leishman.
St Bernard’s Intermediate Chess Team Maintained their Division 1 status
On Wednesday 5 October, Six students from Years 8, 9 and 10 played in our intermediate chess team.
The team was a few short as some of our Year 9 players were unavailable due to being at Santa Monica or at the Urban Engagement Program.
Despite this, they achieved well by coming 5th t, ensuring the team maintain their Division 1 status for the next tournament
The student with the highest score was David Stapleton with 4 points. Followed by Trapper Thorpe with 3.5 points and Xavier Wilkinson with 3 points.
We congratulate the remaining students in the team: Xavier Malcolm, Dylan Linardon and Tyson Moodie.
