This week saw the cross country squad move Thursday morning training to the Year 9 campus at Resurrection House. Our aim was to ease the travel for the Year 9 boys who have been attending training at the senior campus on both Tuesday and Thursday mornings. It is also hoped that we will be able to pick up a few more Year 9 runners with training being a little bit easier for the Year 9 boys to attend. Training from Resurrection House also allows us to use Aberfeldie Park and the 4km Maribyrnong River circuit and this will be ideal when we begin the Maribyrnong 150 Charity Run training and are joined by the girls from St Columba’s. On Thursday morning Ms Roberts and I were joined by Mr Sweeney, the Director of the Year 9 campus, and the team completed a solid interval session at Aberfeldie. In the coming weeks I hope to be able to speak at some of the year level assemblies to give some background about the Maribyrnong 150 and to also encourage some more students to attend cross country training. A reminder that training is held each Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6:50 am and breakfast is provided for the boys afterwards. As mentioned previously, training is from the senior campus on Tuesdays and from Resurrection House on Thursdays. I look forward to seeing the numbers at training increase and just a reminder that we are happy to have all ability levels involved.
(Note: For those parents who have sons who are new to the school or who have not been involved with the cross country squad before, please feel free to send Mr Gerard Brown an email - gbrown@sbc.vic.edu.au if you would like more details about training)
