On 8 May, the Year 12 Business Management students visited the manufacturing facility of Yakult, a probiotic milk beverage originating from Japan as part of their operation management area of study.
Upon entering the facility, the students were amazed to be greeted by a complex manufacturing system comprised of many machines each with their own purpose in the production of the tasty milk beverage. The students learnt about the inputs and processes that occurred behind the scenes to create the beverage and were astounded to see inner workings of computer aided manufacturing and robotics for the automated production of the milk.
From sterilisation, to homogenisation, the students were immersed in an abundance of knowledge of the production process. Finally, the students were treated to some of the delicious probiotic drinks at the end of the trip filled with more then 6.5 billion Lactobacillus Casei Shirota strain good bacteria. Overall, the knowledge the students received on their trip to Yakult would prove to be very beneficial when applying the content of their classwork in the coming weeks.
