After a little winter hibernation, Bernies 2 Minute Friday is Back!! This newsletter is your one-stop shop for St Bernard's-focused news - from updates on school progress and student achievement, to Old Collegian events and class reunions, with heartwarming stories from our community and even exciting new opportunities for alumni, it's all here - all in two minutes!
This edition continues our new regular feature that celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of our Old Collegians! Aptly titled "Bernie's Spotlight," each edition will aim to highlight a successful Old Collegian, celebrating their achievements and offering a snapshot-style biographical article about them.

Over the weekend, a contingent of our students, old collegians, and staff participated in the 2024 City 2 Surf event in Sydney. With 77,687 finishers, the event is the largest fun run ever recorded in the world.
It is with great pride that we announce the outstanding achievements of two of our students, Charles Barrett and James Cruse, who secured 14th and 19th positions, respectively. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to them for this remarkable feat in such a massive field of competition.
Additionally, we commend all the participants for exemplifying the College's spirit and determination, as they successfully competed against a formidable field from across the nation. 👏
This past Friday, students from St Bernard’s College and St Columba's College Essendon joined forces for the annual Marby 150 charity run. Originally a run from Bendigo to Melbourne, this event now takes place along the Maribyrnong River, where students aim to collectively complete 150 kms— roughly the same distance from Bendigo to Melbourne.
A huge thank you to the students, staff, parents, and the wider community for your incredible support. Your dedication and enthusiasm make this event truly special!
That's a wrap! Our College musical, "Chicago: The Teen Edition," has been an absolute hit.
A massive congratulations to all the talented staff and students involved. The quality of the show is a true testament to the countless hours of hard work over the past months. Your exceptional talents in all aspects of the production are to be admired. Well done, everyone!
It was wonderful to celebrate our 50 and 60-year reunions with our Old Collegians recently, as we also gathered to honour our patron saint, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Thank you to all the Old Collegians who were able to join us, reminisce, and see the College as it proudly stands today.
Our 2024 Reunion season is almost at an end - it has been fantastic to see such strong numbers of Old Collegians attending and excited to reconnect with each other, and the College. We have two more reunions for this year - the class of 2023 and an informal lunch for the class of 1969! (see below)
